Maria Hala is an angel investor, mainly focusing in the expansion of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. As a Business Angel, she has being greatly instrumental in the establishment of the local informal venture capital community, by connecting senior members of the Greek and European entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through providing mentoring and coaching on ventures standing at seed and early stages of their investment cycle, her ultimate goal is to contribute on their commercialization and on advising them on their equity funding paths.
She is also a Certified Fund Manager, accredited by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. Maria has spent more than 17 years of her professional life at asset management industry as a member of Alpha Asset Management, a subsidiary of Alpha Bank. Starting from the analysis department, she ended up as an equity Fund Manager, at the Foreign Equity desk, managing funds with specific geographic orientation, namely Southern and Eastern Europe (Russia, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Cyprus), as well as industry orientation, namely shipping industry.
Maria received an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, from Imperial College London Business School in 2014, an MSc in Business Finance from Brunel University, London in 1996 and a BSc in Marketing from University of LaVerne, California in 1994.
Maria is an active member of the European Business Angels Network (EBAN), the pan-European representative of the early stage investor community. As an active member of EBAN, she is focused on networking the local seed and early stage entrepreneurial community with member-investors from specific industries. She is also a member of the Hellenic Spanish Chamber of Commerce and of MIT EF Greece.
