Vassilis is a technology entrepreneur with a strong engineering and business backgrounds. Over the past 20 years he has gained hands-on management experience in a range of industry sectors including information technology, education, private equity, retail, maritime transportation and non-profits. He consults the Board of the Eugenides Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of science and technology in Greece, on issues related to technology and science. He represents the Eugenides Foundation on the Boards of VIORYL, a successful chemical engineering company, and Fasmatech, a startup developing original technology in the field of mass spectroscopy. He is one of the co-founders and Chairman of the MIT Enterprise Forum Greece and since July 2014, he is a member of the Global Advisory Board of the MITEF Global. He is the co-founder and CEO of Mobiltron, Inc, a technology startup that is developing WOVER, a powerful artificial intelligence platform that detects anomalies in daily patterns that may lead to emergencies. He holds a dual BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (94) and MS degree in Ocean Systems Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (97). He has conducted research in automated control systems, risk management and system dynamics. He is currently interested in and working on projects involving ROVs, mobile devices, sensors and protective analytics. He is an active volunteer of the MIT Alumni Association since graduation and served as Chairman of the MIT Club of Greece from Jan 2011 to Jan 2015.
