Kyri is a Board certified Hematologist/Oncologist, and she completed graduate and postdoctoral work at the Aristotle University, Greece, and the Imperial College, Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK, respectively.
Before joining the pharmaceutical industry in 1997, Kyri held medical faculty and academic appointments at the Aristotle University Medical School and at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School. She has more than 15 years of experience in Research & Development, working at Wyeth and then Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, with focus on preclinical and early clinical pharmacology of drug candidates. She has led small molecule and biologics programs through both drug discovery and early clinical development. Kyri was most recently Senior Director in the Biotherapeutics Research Unit at Pfizer, where she had Strategic, Managerial, and Scientific oversight for a Division. She participated as a Core Executive member in Strategic Workshops with Pfizer R&D Clinical Business to align research efforts in critical areas with unmet medical needs and commercial opportunities.
Kyri has successfully mentored several postdoctoral fellows during her career in the pharmaceutical industry, and has numerous publications in top-tier journals. She is a co-inventor on 6 issued U.S. patents and many pending patent applications.
Kyri joined MIT VMS (Venture Mentoring Service) in April 2012 and since then she has been mentoring many new ventures in the field of Life Sciences and Medical Devices. She is also an active mentor in the MIT Innovation Initiative/Translational Fellows Program and the MIT Ventureships Program.
